While Pride is celebrated with parades and parties in some countries, in others, LGBTQ+ people still live in fear. Over 60 countries still criminalize same-sex relationships, and in some places, Pride events are banned, surveilled, or violently suppressed.
This global disparity highlights the need for international solidarity. Pride is not just a Western concept — it’s a human rights issue. LGBTQ+ activists around the world are pushing for legal recognition, healthcare access, and safety in hostile environments.
Supporting global Pride means listening to local voices, supporting grassroots movements, and recognizing that what looks like progress in one country may still be dangerous in another.
This Pride, let’s not take freedom for granted. Let’s amplify those still fighting for theirs — and be the allies they need.
